One week after beginning a strike on unsuspecting e-gold members by blocking accounts seemingly associated with "HYIPs", there has been no official announcement from e-gold. Those with blocked accounts have lost their funds unless able to provide verification of their account identification and can pass e-gold's - "Right of Association" rule, proving no involvement with criminal or money laundering activity. It is not clear what criteria e-gold has used to block or unblock accounts.

Those in any way associated with the HYIP community are taking steps to exchange their funds from e-gold into other forms of currency. HYIP programs are acting swiftly to offer new currencies to program members to continue payouts, and offer other payment options for joining or respending members. Some programs not able to have their account(s) unblocked by e-gold are abandoning their programs forcing members to lose their spends and/or profits. Still other programs are promoting heavily to overcome the cloud of insult to the HYIP community by e-gold's recent actions.
