Since 8/24/07, e-gold's account holders were being greeted by blocked accounts without any prior announcement from e-gold. Over the past two days, the number of accounts reported being blocked is estimated to be over a thousand. Further, it has been learned that three accounts belonging to one person with funds from an online Forex brokerage account were completely "erased". These accounts totaled over $1M. The owner of these accounts is taking legal actions and asking other account holders to enjoin his action on the basis of, "Common complaint from many e-Gold users can speed-up legal enforcements."

Presently e-gold is offline, with no announcement of the status, as it is customary to find when e-gold takes the site down for maintenance, etc. This leaves all account holders in a state of suspended animation. How long e-gold will remain offline, or even if it will return is a question throughout the world. Speculation that the US government currently in litigation with e-gold over the legality of the service it provides, is the driving force behind e-gold's action toward its account holders.
